I'm not trying to steer off topic.@soundgurumanThe problem with your 'troubleshooting methods,' is you didn't even know that systemlord had done any other tests, or that it's been a reoccuring issue. I attempted to run windows update and got this error message: The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context. Go to this site: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1659 and download the XP Video drivers (the one that says XP and is 9.41 Mb) and MAKE SURE you specify that desktop Folder for the download. The list of common problems will be listed below-->1.

If you need a gigabit NIC and are running vista or higher, it will not work!!! the only way to do this is to format the disk.
