At least I think that's what happened... Enablecdn Anyway. The WebResource.axd handler isn't specific to ASP.NET AJAX. I've been trying to fix this for a while now and your solution worked.

I'm still left with my problem. Once an app with a simple asp:ScriptManager and asp:UpdatePanel works fine, loads all its resources and performs partial postbacks, our controls should work too. There may be some permissions issue preventing the other accounts from loading it, after you installed it on your account. The effective reason was an erroneous entry in the "Web.config" file. Then I am able to uncomment the forms auth, and have everything work as normal again. Adding a location path in web.config as desribed by martin solved it. Strange one hey. As .NET4.5 is integral part of Windows 8 I can't uninstall it.
