- I also know that the windows backup is not retrievable (found out the hard way years ago), I do have a limited backup of my lost files.
- Get a discounted price on replacement setup and installation discs: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10.
- Go to explorer and right click on the C:Drive , Go to properties - and make sure that the COMPRESS DRIVE TO SAVE DISK SPACE IS UNCHECKED.
- Run CCleaner again.5.
- Just prior to trying your solution, I did the procedure recommended by John Savill at the top of this page, got rid of an additional 3000 temp files, to no avail.

TIP: to delete "compress old files" go to the registry, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress old files" delete all (3?) entries in that folder. No, create an account now. It says I need uncompressed hard drive, I have probably compressed this computer multiple times over the past few years. It's also available for Windows XP and Windows Server.Read more at Windows Recovery Disks.

"Compress old files" in 120 days, any You want Ultra DMA mode 5 or something similar, just not Pio. 2nd try Bart PE to run uncompress command from custom boot CD created with Bart PE. This is usually C:\, the drive where Windows XP is installed. this content I did the things listed by John Savill as well.
