Turning off the Hardware Acceleration option prevents this process from opening, and also seemed to reduce the CPU usage of the "...--type=renderer..." process. I tried the Terminal tip provided here, and it seems to have helped. Some people have related it to when Battle Net is downloading an update and it locks, that is not the case here. For example, there's a bug in Hearthstone - you see other people whispering you in a white, chat bubble but, when you reply to them, that same bubble doesn't show up I have been surfing and surfing the net for a solution for my extremely slow finder after last mac update, and I finally found you here! Such a weird fix, but it is performing better now. With my ASUS HD 3870 512MB, 2GB (2 x 1GB) Corsair 6400 and my new processor & motherboard I am cranking full settings at 1366 x 768 (Vizio 32" HDTV) without Hage been looking forward to this for months. Both helpers are used for the chromium webbrowsing framework and afaik Steam never sorted their helpers out so I have my fears the battle.net helper cpu usage is here to stay.
